About

Born in Paris, Tristan Cornut is laureate of many international competitions, notably the ARD Competition in Munich, the Domnick Competition in Stuttgart and the Gaspar Cassado Competition in Hachioji (Japan).

He has appeared as a soloist with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensemble Resonanz and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra among others. Since 2012 he is principal cellist of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.

As a chamber musician, he has performed with many leading artists, such as Yo-Yo Ma, Antonio Meneses, Salvatore Accardo, Daniel Hope and Bruno Giuranna. Tristan has also been awarded top prizes for chamber music at the Melbourne and Trondheim Competitions.

A graduate of the Paris Conservatory, Tristan Cornut studied with Roland Pidoux, and later with Jean-Guihen Queyras in Stuttgart and Freiburg. Since 2017 he holds a professorship at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart.
