Who We Are

Fonact is an international school of excellence in acting, offering world-class conservatoire training in Fontainebleau and Athens.

Founded in 2015, and born from the precision of British theatrical training, Fonact lives through the warmth and creativity of a diverse, global ensemble.

Our mission is to train modern artists — technically strong, imaginative, resilient and deeply connected to their craft and to each other.

About Fonact

The Fontainebleau School of Acting was originally created to provide summer workshops for students auditioning for prestigious drama schools such as Yale, Guildhall, RADA and LAMDA (with a high success rate).
Due to student passion for our work, Fonact built its own creative identity, and now offers a variety of training pathways, including the BA Acting, short courses and workshops, and intensive courses at both our Fontainebleau and Athens campuses.

All our programmes contribute to the same objective: to provide you with the highest quality training to serve the modern actor. Delivered by a world class group of directors, we meet passion with a wealth of experience to give you the best possible launch to your creative career.

Our students come from all corners of the globe, so each ensemble holds a wide range of creative and cultural identity.

All of Fonact’s courses are taught in English, and grounded in the British theatre tradition, and reflects our shared values of generosity, curiosity, and humanity.

Accreditations

Accreditations

At FONACT, our training is accredited by national and international awarding bodies. This guarantees both quality and academic value.

Qualiopi Certification*

FONACT holds the French Qualiopi certification, awarded to training providers whose processes meet rigorous standards set by the French government.
This certification ensures the excellence of our pedagogical structure, organisation, and delivery. It also confirms that FONACT operates with professionalism, transparency, and continuous improvement at the core of its training model.

RNCP Accreditation (France Compétences)

Our professional acting programme is officially registered with the RNCP (Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles), under the authority of France Compétences.
The RNCP is the French national framework for professional qualifications and is aligned with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).
This recognition validates the professional value of the training, ensuring that the qualification meets national and European standards in terms of skills, competencies, and employability.

EABHES Accreditation (European Accreditation Board of Higher Education Schools)

Our Three-Year Professional Conservatoire BA Acting programme is accredited by the European Accreditation Board of Higher Education Schools (EABHES).
This accreditation allows eligible students to earn ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System), facilitating academic mobility across Europe and ensuring international recognition of their training.
Through this accreditation, FONACT holds its own degree awarding powers, enabling the school to deliver a structured, internationally recognised higher education pathway rooted in professional practice.

Life at Fonact

Life at Fonact

Fonact is located in the heart of the Fontainebleau forest, just 40 minutes from Paris. Fontainebleau is renowned for the historic Château de Fontainebleau, which once belonged to the kings of France. It is also the home of INSEAD, one of the world’s most elite international business schools. The forest and remarkable cultural heritage are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and attracts millions of visitors every year.

The school is situated in the centre of the town, where there are lots of shops and excellent restaurants.

Accommodation

Fonact has several rooms available for direct rental to full-time students which are rented on a first come first served basis. All other accommodation options are organised independently between students and external landlords. We are ready and willing to offer support in finding accommodation, or provide any necessary paperwork to facilitate the process.

Passports and Visas

Please note that if you are a non-European student, you will need a valid passport and possibly a visa to be able to stay in France.

Student Wellbeing

Student Wellbeing

Fonact prioritises the health and safety of our students, staff and community. Whilst our buildings are open for teaching, visitors to the School during the term will be strictly limited to those of absolute necessity, such as visiting artists and contractors, who must obtain prior permission before arrival.

At Fonact we acknowledge that taking part in intensive training can be overwhelming at times. We know how vital it is to provide a calm, safe space where you are able to reflect on the challenges you face, both in your training and your life outside the rehearsal room. All of our directors and teaching staff work within a strong care-led ethos.

We also have a number of services in place to ensure our students feel cared for and supported throughout the training, which include:
Counselling
Physiotherapy
Accommodation advice
International student support

Equality, Diversity & Anti-Racism

At Fonact, our training is for anyone who holds the curiosity, capacity and commitment to train as an actor. We meet as an international ensemble, joined in our love for the work. We are passionate about celebrating each individual, and believe actors should feel free to train without adjusting their identity to succeed within our creative spaces.

We hold zero tolerance for any discrimination, othering, racism, prejudice or bias. We stand as allies in global movements for inclusion.

To enable greater diversity and equal opportunity, we meet bi-annually to hold ourselves to account in this ethos, and explore the ways in which Fonact has, and still can, grow, evolve and learn.
