The directors and teachers will support, inspire and challenge you, as well as encourage play, openness and creativity. You will build your confidence and experience the real meaning of the ensemble in an atmosphere of joy and discovery.

Week One

Dance for Actors: Movement Across Stage & Screen

This class in week one equips actors with the dance and movement skills they’re most likely to encounter in their careers, both on stage and on camera. Students will explore foundational styles such as court and period dancing, waltzing and partner work, and essential musical theatre movement. The course also introduces basic dance concepts like utilizing opposition, torque and spotting, isolations, turnout mechanics, choreography retention, and genre-specific stylization.

Physical Character Lab: Movement & Improvisation

This class explores how actors create fully realized characters through physical transformation and movement-driven improvisation. Students will experiment with posture shifts, tempo changes, gait development, gesture vocabulary, and spatial dominance to build distinct physical identities. Through structured and open improvisation, actors will develop characters inspired by archetypes, genre conventions, historical periods, and heightened theatrical styles, strengthening bold choices, adaptability, and embodied storytelling.

Week Two

acting for stage: movement & ensemble

This week offers participants a deep-dive into physical craft for the actor, training in psycho-physical expansion, and an opportunity to release your creative impulse. Through movement-driven exploration, students will work to understand tension and physical freedom, and the transformative skill of physical listening in the ensemble. Through structured and open ensemble improvisation, actors will develop a greater understanding of their physicality, strengthening bold choices, relationship to authentic impulse and embodied storytelling.
