BA in Acting
The 3-Year BA in Acting at FONACT is an intensive, in-person programme built on discipline, continuity, and long-term development.
Training takes place daily across acting, voice, and movement, with a strong emphasis on precision, coordination, and the progressive integration of technique. Each year includes approximately 940 hours of in-person work, allowing for depth, repetition, and sustained progress.
Students take part in full-scale theatre productions every year, performed in professional conditions, gaining practical experience of rehearsal processes, performance runs, and working in front of an audience.
The Three-Year Professional Conservatoire BA is FONACT’s flagship programme, designed as a complete and immersive training for those who aim to become professional, versatile, and confident actors.
The curriculum combines structured technical work with applied practice, enabling students to develop both a reliable craft and the ability to engage creatively with text, partners, and space. Teaching is delivered by an international faculty of practitioners who have trained or worked across leading conservatoires, including Guildhall, LAMDA, Yale, as well as major European institutions such as TNS and ENSATT.
Taking place between Fontainebleau and Athens, the programme unfolds across two distinct environments that support focus, adaptability, and artistic growth. It is designed not only to develop performers, but to prepare actors capable of working within a wide range of professional and international contexts.
The three-year training creates the conditions for deep engagement with the craft. Classes are intensive, demanding, and designed to build confidence, precision, and artistic range.
Acting projects encourage students to explore the relationship between observation, imagination, and text. Through advanced study, they develop connections between real, poetic, and imagined worlds, allowing a more personal and authentic artistic voice to emerge.
Students work with a range of international directors across contemporary and classical texts, encountering diverse methodologies and approaches to the craft.
They are expected to take an active role in rehearsals, developing their ability to respond to direction, refine character work, and collaborate effectively within an ensemble.
Initiative, imagination, and openness are essential. Students are encouraged to engage fully with their impulses, their partners, and the dynamic life of each scene.
Each term includes public sharings, alongside full-scale productions developed within professional rehearsal processes.
Movement training develops physical awareness, strength, and expressive capacity.
Students explore:
The training integrates approaches such as Laban, Feldenkrais, and Alexander Technique, alongside improvisation and structured physical work.
Students develop autonomy in their physical preparation, learning how to warm up, align, and adapt their bodies to the demands of each project.
Movement work supports both rehearsal and performance, enabling actors to translate imagination into physical expression with clarity and control.
Voice training develops a deep understanding of the vocal instrument and its connection to thought, breath, and intention.
Students explore:
The training strengthens the connection between voice, movement, and text, allowing for precise and expressive communication.
Independent practice is encouraged, supporting the progressive development of vocal strength, clarity, and presence throughout the programme.
After two years of intensive training in Fontainebleau, students complete the final stage of the programme in Athens, where the focus shifts towards sustained public performance within a professional theatre company environment.
Students apply their training within a professional context, involving intensive rehearsal processes and extended public performances run while continuing to refine essential elements of their craft, including regular self-tape practice.
They take part in multiple professionally produced productions, allowing learning to take place through sustained performance experience.
The emphasis shifts towards working as an actor within a professional environment, preparing students for the next step: entering the industry with clarity, discipline, and experience.
Alongside their craft training, students progressively develop the practical tools, habits, and exposure needed for professional life, including:
The first year is primarily dedicated to the development of the actor’s core craft.
