From stage to Screen

Bringing stage craft into the world of film

Two languages. One craft.

Actors explore the shift from stage to screen by working on the same material across both mediums, revealing the precision, adaptability, and depth required to perform truthfully in each.

From Stage to Screen is a practical and immersive training where actors engage with both theatre and film processes. Scenes are developed in rehearsal and explored in performance conditions before being adapted and captured on camera.

This dual approach allows actors to experience firsthand how the same work transforms across mediums — refining their awareness of scale, presence, and detail. Through this process, they build the ability to adjust their performance with clarity, confidence, and technical understanding.

About the Programme

From Stage to Screen is an intensive eight-week experience designed to bridge the gap between theatrical craft and on-camera performance. Rooted in the understanding that today’s actor must be fluent in both mediums, the programme offers a rigorous and innovative approach to training that integrates stage discipline with the technical and psychological demands of screen work.

Throughout the course, actors move dynamically between rehearsal room and camera set, developing the ability to adapt their craft with precision. Scenes are explored in depth through live performance processes and then translated for the screen, allowing participants to experience firsthand how intention, scale, and presence shift across mediums. This dual approach builds not only versatility, but a deeper awareness of the actor’s instrument.

The programme places a strong emphasis on professional practice. Students engage in regular self-tape work, on-camera technique, and filmed scene study, gaining practical tools that are directly applicable to the industry. Working within a structured yet creatively demanding environment, they are guided to refine their instincts, strengthen their screen presence, and develop a reliable, repeatable process in front of the camera.

At its core, From Stage to Screen is about transformation: equipping actors with the clarity, adaptability, and confidence required to navigate both stage and screen at a professional level.

Programme Structure

The eight-week journey is carefully constructed to guide actors through a progressive and transformative process, where each phase builds on the last and deepens both craft and awareness.

Weeks 1–2 — Ensemble & Text Foundations
The programme begins with a strong focus on ensemble building and in-depth text exploration. Actors develop a shared language, sharpen their listening, and engage rigorously with the material. This phase lays the groundwork for truthful, connected performances, ensuring that the transition to camera is rooted in clarity of intention and strong acting choices.

Weeks 3–4 — Screen Production
The work then shifts into on-camera practice, where scenes are rehearsed and professionally filmed. Actors engage with the technical demands of screen acting — framing, continuity, subtlety, and precision — while maintaining the emotional depth developed in the first phase. This is not just filmed work, but a true production process, where each scene is captured with a clear artistic and technical vision.

Weeks 5–8 — Stage Transposition & Performance
In the final phase, actors return to the same material, this time translating it for the stage. This process challenges them to expand, adapt, and reimagine their work for a live audience, deepening their understanding of scale, presence, and embodiment. The rehearsal process culminates in a public-facing performance, anchoring the experience in the reality of sustained stage work.

Meanwhile, the footage shot during weeks 3–4 undergoes full post-production — editing, colour grading, sound design, and mixing — handled by a professional team.

Final Outcome
In the final week, the programme culminates in a dual presentation: a live performance of the stage work alongside the screening of the completed films. Actors leave not only with a profound understanding of both mediums, but also with professionally produced material for their showreel — a tangible and immediate asset for entering the industry.
